Old fortress and New fortress
The historical center of Corfu town is delimited by the two fortresses. The ancient one is situated along the east side, on the sea, while the new one is on the west side. On the old fortress is built Georgios church, an orthodox church built in 1840 using materials from the ruined houses surrounding the area. During the past, the two fortresses of Corfu were linked by large walls, so that the inhabitants could live safely inside.
Mon Repos Palace
Situated on top of Analipsis hill, in an area full of vegetation, it was built in 1826 by the British Commissioner Frederic Adams as a gift to his Corfiot wife, Nina Palatianou.
Spianada Square
A green square, the biggest one is the Balkans. Situated next to the main street, Liston, Spianada Square is full of the best cafes and restaurants of the town
Monastery of Vlacherna
It is situated on an islet linked to the mainland by a stone pier.
Right behind is Pontikonisi Island only accessible by boat.
Saint Spyridon church
Located in the old town of Corfu, this beautiful orthodox church, built in the 1580s houses the relics of Saint Spyridon.
The Windmill
The reconstructed stone windmill at the end of the breakwater in Garitsa Bay is the perfect place to sunbathe and swim in the transparent sea of Corfu.
